Dear Family,

So this week was kind of slow. All the lessons canceled but that's okay. We are not going to give up. I have also had a pretty bad cold this week.  It has been going around but I am much better now. So we didn't meet with the Russian guy this week. He was busy but he is still very excited about the gospel and wants to meet and learn lots more. He will probably be baptized but not anytime soon. He takes his time and wants to learn the gospel in depth before he commits, which is okay. I know the Spirit will be working on him and he will be baptized sooner than he thinks, just probably not in my time in this area. So Trisha is still on date to be baptized on the 23 of November.  We are working with some other people to but I won't talk about them yet. It's too early to tell.

Well about the Elder Fisher that sent Lindsay the friend request. Yes I know him. He is in my district. We hang out a lot. He is a good guy so don't worry. He just was on Facebook one day and asked if he could be friends with my sister and I said yes. He wants to write her a letter. It's just a letter so don't worry. Lindsay does not have to write back if she doesn't want to but she should just talk to other people.

Tell dad thank you so much for the email. It was really good to hear from him. Mom, I love your emails a lot too but there is something about emails from your dad that are special. Dad has some more in site to things. Ha-ha. Hey, tell dad to not worry about sending me his pocket knife. He can keep his. I have acquired another one. Thanks though. I am really proud of dad and seeing how well he is doing. In the last 3 to 4 years dad had changed. Changed for the better. He has always been churchy and stuff but he has become way more spiritual it seems like. Dad has grown a lot in the gospel. I will not be shocked to hear him as a bishop or stake president one day.

Well anyways I do not know what plans we have for this Monday. Not much happened last week. It was rather boring but this morning I snuck into some other missionary’s apartment and when one of them was in the shower I dumped a big cup of flour on him .Hahaha. It was funny and we ran out of the apartment and he didn't know it was us. Then we went over later that morning to do studies with them and they told us all about the guys who did the flour and they were making plans to get them back. HAHA. They didn't know it was us though. I thought I should just tell you about that.

Well I hope you all have a good week and stay out of trouble. You should get my letter by this week. Have a good day ya all.

Blowing People's Minds with the Gospel!

Dear Family and Friends,

Sorry my email won't be as long as normal. I had some other people that I really needed to email and I am on a time limit. Well, we had a good week. The weather has been nice and cold just the way I like it. This morning it was 15 degrees and sunny. Ha-ha. It feels so good. I just wear a white short sleeve shirt and a thin sweater and I am fine. I guess that I am just built for Alaska.

We has a good lesson with Trisha this week. We taught the Plan of Salvation and we had a great lesson with the Russian man as well. We answered all of his questions and then we blew his mind. We talked about the baptism for the dead, the kingdoms of glory, and that we lived with our Father in Heaven before we came here. I love blowing people’s minds and then just getting all excited because it's all new to them and they say it sounds right. People don't know much about the plan of life and what Heavenly Father has in store for them and we have the details. The gospel is true.

We have not found Joey yet. We talked to his friend next door and he can't find him either. It's weird. So I got your letter. Thanks so much. It was good to get an update. I am sending out a letter today to you all. It has the things that I need in the letter.  I don't know the exact date the Flowerdews are going to the temple. I think it will be in the first week or two of November. I will let you know when I find out.

Well, I really have to go. I am so sorry about cutting this short. Have a great week and remember who you are.

It's a good day to be a missionary!!!

Dear Family and Friends,

It was a good last week. We had stake conference and we also had our interviews with our mission president. Stake conference went very well. It tied in very well with general conference. They really talked about missionaries and how we need to be getting our sons out on missions. They want more missionaries. The world needs all the help we can muster. So that was cool. Interviews went very well. I love talking with President Beasley. We talked about the mission work and about my companion and then we talked about home and what my plans are. Well I brought that up. But anyways it went very good. He is truly called of God to be here right now and with this group of Elders in Alaska.

So Joey is in a nursing home. We have no idea where it is. We can't understand the things he is saying on the phone but we call him and that's good. We will find him soon. Mini is doing good. She is off and on. She is a less active lady. She is just trying to balance work and church and her daughter. But there were two great things about this week. First, we picked up a new couple to teach. They are Russian. They are so golden. They escaped from Russia 20 years ago and they have quite the story. He has studied most every church and has been to most all churches and every time he said there is something missing. Something’s not right. He has never heard about the Mormons until he talked to a guy at work that is a member of the church. Ha-ha. He is so excited about the gospel and is hoping that this is the church he has been looking for his whole life. We are super excited.

Then the other thing this week that happened is that I got a letter from the Flowerdews. Wow it was so good to hear from them. I will send the letter home when I write you another letter. You will like it. They are going to the temple on the 10th of November and I am going to be there.

So Sara met Elder Free. Hahaha. That's awesome because he is one of my best friends. He has been in my district until this last transfer happened. I called Elder Free this morning and he told me about meeting Sara at the reindeer farm. That was no coincidence that happened. The Lord works in funny ways. I am so glad that somehow I am making a difference in Sara's life even though I have not met her. Ha-ha. That was cool. I am just so pumped up right now. Wooooo it's a good day to be a missionary.

So about the snow. We got snow Saturday night and it melted on Sunday. We are supposed to get snow tonight and it is supposed to start for the rest of the year. It will be fun. So today we are going to go bowling on the military base. Should be fun.

Hmm well thanks so much for all that you do. I got the box of stuff. Thanks so much. You are all awesome. I will write a letter to you on some stuff I might need, if that's alright. Oh and while I remember for Christmas, all I need is a new pocket knife. I lost mine or it was stolen. I had that knife for 2 years. Ha-ha. But yes I need a good knife and one that is a smooth blade and that is lever assisted oh and something to make it open fast. I don't like the old fashion ones that are hard to open. Ha-ha. Well thanks so much. You are all so great. Keep up the good work and thanks for telling me about home. I really like it.

What a week?!

Dear Family and Friends,

What a week? We were watching another elder for a good chunk of the week and helping him move out of his old apartment into a new one and cleaning and all that.  But we did have two cool things happen. First off we got a referral from some other missionary. It is a Russian man and his wife.  I am excited to start teaching them. I hope it goes well. Then the other cool thing is there is a less active guy I have been working with for a long time who has started coming to church and is doing really good. His wife is a nonmember and she is native. Well they came to General Conference.  It was so cool but the best part was that the less active guy called us last night and said hey my wife wants to take the lessons and get baptized.  I was so excited. I had a feeling she was warming up to the church but I just didn't know how long it would take. So that was the highlights of the week. Also it was transfer calls. I am staying in Jewel Lake and with the same companion that I have. It should be a good transfer I hope.

Well mom, I heard from the book store lady that you’re wishing that my emails were longer. Well I am sorry but I don't have all the time I would like to email. Plus I do not know what to say half the time. So much happens in the week and I normally forget about stuff when it comes to emails. So I am sorry that my emails are not up to par but that's all you’re going to get. Ha-ha. My hands are tied mom. Lol. I am glad that phone call made your day. I figured it would. (Ammon has been doing service work for a book store in Anchorage. The manager of the store is L.D.S. and had asked Ammon for my number so she could call me and tell me about how wonderful Ammon has been to her.)

Well conference was amazing. I knew Curtis and Frazier would be happy about the age change. I think it is way cool. It needed to happen. The hardest time for a future missionary is after high school waiting to turn 19. That's when Satin works way hard to get you off track. Now there is no waiting time, you just go. I think its way good. I took a lot of notes on conference but I don't have time to talk about them sorry.

Thank you so much for telling me about Mike. He has been on my mind a lot lately. I am glad he is doing ok. I will be waiting for a letter from him. So you still have not told me about dad’s new job? What is it? Please fill me in. Thanks. Oh and I haven’t received the box you sent yet.

Well I am sorry but I have to get going. I love you all and I miss you a lot. Study out the talks that were given. There is a lot to be learned in there. Have a great week and remember who you are.

Hey People Back Home,

Well we had our first snow this weekend it came from totally out of nowhere. I guess winter is on its way early this year. I am not really ready for it yet but it's not my choice.

So I am doing good. Things have been so slow lately. All the nonmembers we are working with have bailed this last week. The only one we have made contact with is Joey. He is in the hospital and the doctor’s don't know what's wrong with him. He says his bones hurt so bad and that he can't move. I guess he was passed out in his house for a couple of days before his friend found him. That's not good. And I was knocking on the door when he was passed out but I could not break into the house. Ugh it really bothers me.  He could have died in the house if his friend did not show up. But we are visiting Joey in the hospital now and he is getting the help he needs.

We visited all less active members this last week. We met a lot of new people and got some to come to church and we got one older couple to set a goal of going to the temple. So that was cool. But other than that we have just been trying to stay busy. Saturday all we did was service. We helped paint a church book store in the morning and then after that we helped a member in the ward that's a state trooper put in a fence. Then after that we had to go help a single lady change out her street tires to her snow tires. It felt so good to work all day. I can't tell you how much I miss work.

I know that I have spent a lot of money. I looked at my bank balance. I pulled out those five dollars because I had to wash my clothes and it cost me 5 dollars to just wash my one load of whites and one load of colors. I hate the prices up here and we do not get enough money. I am cutting back.  I will get better on my spending.

I am out of time. I emailed Grandma and Grandpa Simkins but I need to go so I can email my mission president now. So have a good week and what's dad's new job? I have heard that he got a new job from two other people but I have not heard anything from you all?  I love you all and I hope and pray we all have a good week.

Elder Woolbert
