Road trip!!!

    Dear Family,

I am here in Fairbanks right now emailing you before I drive back to the arm pit of Alaska. Ha-ha. This week has been one of the funniest weeks. We have done nothing but laugh until we cry all week. The drive up here was cool. It's a normal 7 hour drive and I made it in five and a half hours. I thought that was good. Ha-ha. On the way up here, I killed a grouse with my sling shot and then we cooked it and ate it. It was good eats. Then the baptism went great. Elder Beirne, my second to last companion baptized Jared and I got to confirm him. It was really neat. He was so shocked to see us. Ha-ha. We kept it a secret that we were coming up here so it was a shock to everyone when we showed up.  Jared was so happy. He rocked the house when he shared his testimony at the baptism. Most everyone was in tears. I will be going to temple with him in August of 2014 in Arizona. I won't miss that one. Besides I have done some talking with Elder Beirne and we might move to Arizona together after our missions and be roomies and go to school. There are some good trade schools down there and there is a girl there as well that I want to see and hang out with. Ha-ha. But that's just talk for right now but I need to fly the coop some time.

So we have our long drive back to Anchorage today, just me and Elder Beirne. Should be a nice drive. Don't worry mom, I am a pro at driving. That's one reason why I drove up is because President knows I can drive. Well anyways, I got a full SD card to send home with Dan and something else to send home with him as well. That is a surprise. I have another SD card that I am working on that is almost half way being full. So no worries mom.

Man, I really don't know what to say right now. All the people in Fairbanks are doing good. Logan and Amber came to church and we have met with them three times since we have been here and we hope they will be on track soon. It was really cool in sacrament meeting. I was sitting by Amber and my companions were on the stage giving talks. I got out of that. Ha-ha. But there was a guy that got up and told his conversion story and it was just powerful and Amber leans over to me and she said I want to feel how he feels about the church. I almost lost it. Tears were welling up in my eyes. We have been working a lot with these people and they have come so far and to hear her say that just filled me with so much happiness. It's nuts.

So it was a good week. And mom you asked if I need anything. Well I don’t think that I do. I am good right now. I am just trying to finish my mission and then get home and start life. Thanks for all the love and support you give me.

Love,

Miracle week!!!!

Dear Family and Friends,

This was an interesting last week. I was pretty upset this last week with transfers and I wrote to my mission president about it and he sent his wife after me to make sure that I was ok and that I wouldn't be mad at them. She told me that I was supposed to stay in Fairbanks for this last transfer and then they went to the temple right before they call the missionaries to tell them there transfers. While they were there at the temple they felt very strongly to take me out of Fairbanks and that I needed to go to this ward in Eagle River. She said that they don't know why I was taken other than the fact that they were told to. And it's not their fault, I did just not want to do what the Lord wanted me to do at the moment, I guess you could say.

So my new area is ok. To tell you the truth it’s been run into the ground by some elders not doing their jobs. Nothing has happened here in a long time. My companion is something else as well. He is a good kid but wow he is different.  The Lord keeps putting me with elders or a district that needs help. It's like I am the fix it man. Since I have got in this area we have picked up three new investigators and it's been good. We need to start busting through the less actives though. This area needs to be worked over and I guess that's what I get to do. I kind of hope to only stay here one transfer and then off to an area that I can go fishing at. Lol. This new area is big so I cover part of Eagle River and then Chugiak as well. It's all connected. As for my mail you can send it to there or the mission office. I would probably say the mission office because I do not know when I am getting transferred.

I would love to see the Edmonds again. They are fun people. As far as the healthy snacks that's cool, send them my way. I would be all over that. And if you want to send me some Quinoa that would be great as well. Did you ever get my box at the post office with the fur pelts? I hope you put the fox in the freezer.

So there was kind of a miracle for me in the last couple of days. Me and Elder Gardner, my last companion from Fairbanks, and Elder Bernie my companion from before that are driving up to Fairbanks tomorrow for a week. Well until this Monday. Something happened and it just happens to work out that we get to go up there. Something like this has never happened before. We are not allowed to drive up there in the winter. It's a 7 hour drive up there. Hahaha. I am jacked up. I get to go to Jared's baptism and I get to see all my people again. That right there makes this transfer good. I wanted to be at that baptism and see my people again. So I will be there for 5 days. There are a lot of people that I didn't get to say good bye to that I need to see. So that will be good.

Oh and I got permission to go to Palmer for my p-days because it's close.  I will be seeing my Palmer people soon. Well tell Emily congratulations. Another Brazil missionary. It will be quite the experience for her. There are so many people going to Brazil. Dang. I would have died there. Oh well.

Well, I got to get going now. You all have a good week and be safe .Mom don't worry, I am always safe and I will be home shortly. Ok. Less than four months. Hahahaha.

Good morning Family and Friends,

I had a good and bad week. It was good for a lot of things and bad for one thing. So the bad thing is I am getting transferred. I am really quite mad about that because I have only been here for three months and this is one of the best wards I have ever had. So Jared one of the people we were teaching has been doing great and we had a lesson with him this last week on Wednesday. It was a good lesson and we asked him about baptism and he thought about it and we knew he was ready he was just dragging his feet. Then he said OK I will be baptized and he pulls out his phone and checked his calendar and said OK how about the 21 of Feb. It was way cool. In a year they are going to go to the temple. I am way happy for them. The really sad part is on Sunday they told everyone I was leaving and he had not found out yet because I got called Saturday. Well he came up to me after church and you could tell he was a little sad. He said man I was going to ask you to baptize me. I really wanted you to do it. It broke my heart to have to tell him that I can't because I am leaving. I am so mad about this transfer. I have never been so upset about transfers before until now.

It was also really hard to say good bye to all the ward and my other people we are working with and have become really close. Logan and Amber were upset and sad that I was going. They are so close. But I do not know, I better have something good in the next area because this area was the bomb. Oh my new area is Eagle River. It is  just outside of Anchorage. Ugh. Back to the hole and I am still a district leader.

But thanks so much for the birthday cake and the letters. You are all so great. I got all your letters on Saturday. It was cool. ( We received some text pictures from a family on Saturday of some birthday pictures of Ammon. I included them) In the picture I was holding a cheesecake that the member made me. I am glad you all got a good laugh out of pictures.  It was a fun place to eat. It was like Benihana's but better and cheaper. It's a Japanese steak house and they cook it in front of you. So anyways I am flying out in a hour to Anchorage so I got to keep this short and sweet. My mind is all over the place right now with transfers and packing and what not but thanks again for all the letters and support.

Have a great week and stay strong. We are in for a bumpy ride but if we do what the Lord asks of us and have faith, all things are possible.

 Elder Woolbert

So Mom, I am sorry but I don't have any super cool amazing stores. You keep using them all up. I am screwed for when I give my home coming talk because you have told everyone everything. Ha-ha. I do not know what to tell you, sorry. It's not like crazy cool amazing things happen every day. It's snowing outside. That's cool. Lol. Sorry if I am being a butt. I just don't have anything amazing to tell about. And as for places we eat around here. We don't go out like at all and there is not really any big chain places to eat here. Please don't worry about that though. I don't like to eat out too much. I hope that's ok.
So this last week was good. We got Logan and Amber to commit to getting married. It was a real worry for a while but it's all good. We also had a baptism this week. We didn't really get to teach them. The sister missionaries did.  They taught the lady and her son in our area and they got baptized and confirmed this Sunday. It was nice. It really was but it's not the some because I had no connection to them and never got to know them. But it's two more people that have found Christ in their lives. They will be great members of the church.  So no investigators came to church this Sunday for the reason of Super Bowl.  I also got to watch the first three quarters. Ha-ha. It turned into a good game as we left. We had dinner at the member’s house and we got to watch it. Poor me, huh. It was so hard to watch the game:)
So I am glad thing are mellowing out back home. How old is the little Flake boy? I only remember him as a baby. That's funny that dad has a group of boys that love him. Dad has an easy calling. I do not  how he pulled that one off but good for him. Ha-ha. So I am sorry that I don't have any stories mom. I guess look through my old emails or letters and find something.

Well you have a great week and I love you all so much. Don't do anything I wouldn't do.

 Love,
Elder Woolbert
